MEETINGS

Meetings are held at 7 pm on the 3rd Monday of each month from March to November at the Dutch Reform Church at 92 Huguenot Street in New Paltz. (Enter the side door of the church to the Social Hall on the lower level) unless otherwise noted. All members are assigned on a rotating basis to serve on the Hospitality Committee each month. Any member unable to serve where assigned, is required to find a substitute and report the change to that month’s chairperson. Expenses incurred are shared by the committee, including Table Carousel.

Mon., Apr. 17, 7 PM. “Attracting butterflies and other pollinators to your yard”.  Presenter: Dr. Elizabeth Long
Dr. Long will give a comprehensive talk with pictures and planting ideas. She has been the director of Conservation Science at the Mohonk Preserve since 2015. Her expertise is in butterflies and birds.

Mon., May 15, 7 PM. “Dividing and Propagating Garden Plants & Planting Containers”. Presenters: Elena Quick, Shelly Ottens, & Bonnie Champion, NP Garden Club members who get their fingers dirty! They have over 150 years of gardening experience. (Ha!)

Sat., May 20, 8 AM-Noon. “Thirteenth Annual Community-Wide Plant Sale,Swap, & Garden Yard Sale” will be held on the lawn of Dr. Marc Jordan, New Paltz Healing Arts, 222 Main Street, New Paltz.
8-9 AM Drop off plants & sale items
9 AM Sale & Swap begins
Bring identified plants, bulbs, seeds, books, tools, pots, vases, and all garden-related items, including furniture, for swap or sale.

Mon., June 19, 7 PM. “How to Create a Flower Show Entry”
Presenter: Barbara Campbell
Barbara has been a New Paltz Garden Club Member since 1967, a past president, the President of the New York State Garden Club, and holds many positions on the National, State, and District boards. She has won many Flower Show awards and will take the fear out of entering a flower show.

Sat., Aug. 5, 10 AM, “Annual Picnic at Innisfree Gardens,” 362 Tyrrel Road, Millbrook. A stunning extensive garden walk around a beautiful lake. Meet at Reform Church to carpool. Bring a picnic lunch. www.innisfreegarden.org

Mon., Sept. 18, 7 PM. “Bringing Nature Home”. Presenter: Cathy Law, a NP Garden Club member, is an experienced garden
and floral designer. She has worked for City Gardens, the
Massachusetts Horticultural Society, and presently runs the
Courtyard Gardens at the New Paltz High School. She received a
letter of appreciation from Michelle Obama for her work there.
She will speak about using naturalistic design principles and native plants to attract the good kind of wildlife to your landscape.

Mon., Oct. 16, 7 PM. “Easy Care Gardening for Busy People” Presenter: Diane Watt, a former NP Garden Club member. She lectures on a variety of gardening topics and is a landscape designer. Her enjoyable presentation will include many pictures, helpful ideas, and plant suggestions.

Mon., Nov. 20, 7 PM. “Making a Grapevine Basket (a demonstration)”. Presenter: Karen Aspromonte a NP Garden Club member, a former Art teacher, and a talented artist and craftsperson. Written instructions will be available.
